ABOUT ME

My name is Robert Colhoun and I’m excited to share my love of music with you. It all began at school, were I was involved in various choirs and Singing opportunities plus appearances as A Soloist. Later moved on to sing with A Church Choir. Over the years, musical influences have been handed down to me through listening to music on the Radio, plus my Fathers extensive collection of music on cassette tape, which he played in his Car Stereo on Journeys. My Dad bought me my first Bodhran when I was 11, he knew I had Drumming skills, he also introduced me to guitar by buying me A guitar, I went to learn A few basic chords and how to put them together to sing along, this would help later as I developed my song writing skills. A love of Accapella, the Art of Singing without Music, I would strive to put my stamp these songs of old by placing my own Air to the words. Later my own original compositions would breathe life into a song that I hope will resonate with you the listener.
My influences come from obviously Ireland, but also have interest in English, Welsh and Scottish Music as well as the great Country Music produced in USA particularly Nashville and Chigago, even Canada, New Zealand and Australia, and whether I'm picking a guitar, drumming on my Bodhran or singing straight from the soul, I’m paying tribute to the enduring power of Music. My albums, "Folk en Country", "Its Country", "That's Cracker Folk Music", "Robert Colhoun sing Johnny Cash" Songs, "Bundle", "Songs of old", are my way of putting my vocal onto New and Old Songs.
